A team from the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Surkhet, has arrested four employees of the Drinking Water, Irrigation and Energy Development Office, Dailekh, including the head of the office. Authorities arrested four people, including the office chief (engineer) Topendra Sundar Malla, on Tuesday night with the amount of bribe.
According to the authorities, Malla and sub-engineer Birendra Chand demanded Rs. 2,41.016 from the clients. Authorities have arrested Malla, Sub-Engineer Ranjit Shrestha, and Supervisor Laxmi Pandey for further investigation.
Authorities arrested Engineer Malla from the office premises and Sub-Engineer Chand from the workplace. The amount was found during a search of Malla’s quarters at the district headquarters last night. CIAA Surkhet Information Officer Meghnath Sapkota informed that the four arrested would be sent to Kathmandu after undergoing PCR tests for identifying if they are infected with COVID-19.
