Plane crash in the sea: The plane, which lost contact shortly after takeoff from the Indonesian capital Jakarta, is believed to have crashed into the sea.
Sriwijaya Air’s Boeing 737 was out of contact when it reached the skies of West Kalimantan from Jakarta. The 26-year-old plane had 62 passengers on board. There were 56 passengers, including three infants and seven children. There were two pilots and four crew members. According to Flight Radar 24, the plane fell 10,000 feet in less than a minute.
The plane is believed to have crashed into the sea. Some suspicious remaining of the plane has also been found in the sea. According to eyewitnesses, they heard a loud noise. A fisherman named Solihin told the BBC Indonesia Service that he had seen the plane crash. “Immediately he went to sea with his captain. He said, “The plane fell into the sea like lightning and exploded in the water.” Some remains of the plane have also been found.
The officials at the National Research and Rescue Agency said efforts were being made to locate the crash site. Admitting that the remains were found at a place in the sea, an official said, “The depth of the sea is 20/23 meters. We will find the crash site by tonight.”
