Attempts made three and a half decades ago to remove the structures built by encroaching on the land of Kamalpokhari in Kathmandu and take back the encroached land have finally succeeded.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started demolishing the structures built by encroaching the Kamalpokhari. KMC spokesperson Ishwar Man Singh Dangol clarified that the structures were demolished with the objective of protecting and beautifying the Kamal Pokhari.
Guthi Sansthan had started the effort to save the encroached Kamalpokhari in 2043 BS.
Saroj Thapaliya, the spokesperson of the organization, said, “An order was issued by the then King Birendra to remove the houses built by crossing the bank of the pond. Accordingly, King’s Chief Secretary Ranjan Raj Khanal had directed Government’s Chief Secretary Karnadhwaj Adhikari to complete the action within three months. Nothing has happened so far. ”
Guthi Sansthan still has the directive of the then Chief Secretary of the government to take action against the employees who helped to register the land before he retired. “The land of Kamalpokhari was registered in the name of a person on Mangshir 2, 2038.
Later, the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority also directed to maintain the land in the name of Kamalpokhari by cutting the data of the person, but the Ministry of Land Reforms and Management could not proceed with the file for action,” said spokesperson Thapaliya.
Out of the total 48 ropanis of land in Kamal Pokhari, more than four ropanis of land has encroached.
