The number of internet users in Nepal has increased tremendously due to the lockdown and virtual online classes started with the Covid-19 epidemic. Based on the data of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority, the number of internet users in Nepal has reached an average of the total population leaving the Nepalese population in a foreign country.
According to the Nepal Telecommunication Authority, internet users has reached 25 million so far. However, as one person has 2 to 3 SIMs, all Nepalese also might not have access to the internet.
According to the NTC authority’s data up to last Kartik, high-speed broadband internet users in Nepal has reached 22,921,180 people. Of which, only 5,030,941 lines of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have been distributed.
It is said that the number of access will be more as it will generate WiFi and internet access might be distributed to many people. The number of people taking 4G service Personally from Nepal Telecom’s mobile is 2 million 49 thousand 916.

“Users of Nepal Telecom’s data (email, internet, etc.) services have reached a total of more than 16,409,500 by the end of Mangshir 2077. Of them, 15,999,000 million are GSM mobile data service users, 181,500 ADSL service users, 68,000 FTTH data service users and 18,500 people are WiMAX service users,” said Dilli Ram Adhikari, managing director of the Telecom.
