The government of Nepal is preparing to tighten freedom of expression on social media and online platform by bringing “Social Network Control Directive 2077”.
With the aim of controlling the flow of information, the government is about to bring ‘Social Network Control Directive 2077’ to control social media and online. A draft of the guideline directory has also been prepared.
The government has stated that it is preparing to implement the directive soon by passing it by the cabinet.
Why the Government is issuing Social Network Control Directive?
Government spokesperson Parbat Gurung said that the government is preparing to issue directive 2077 so that it will stop media on Facebook, YouTube and other online platforms without any registration.
With the dissolution of the parliament, the government’s work is being criticized on social media and other online platforms. Criticism of the government has also started with the preparation of bringing this directive.
Gurung, who was also the Minister of Communications, Information and Technology, told a press conference to inform about the decision of the Council of Ministers.
