Eight IPL franchises bid for the players in the auction of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League. The most expensive bid this year was named after Chris Morris. Morris has been bought by the Rajasthan Royals team for Indian Rs 16.25 crore.
With this, 33-year-old all-rounder Morris has now become the most expensive player in IPL history. After this auction, he broke the six-year-old record of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Significantly, Yuvraj was bought by Delhi Daredevils in 2015 for 16 crores.
Morris was earlier in the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore. But Bangalore had released him from his team by auction. After this, Morris kept his base price of Rs 75 lakh. There was a competition between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan to take them. But Rajasthan eventually won.
Chris Morris has also played for Rajasthan Royals before this. In 2015, he played for this team. The first time Morris played for Chennai Super Kings was in the 2013 season.
Morris has played 70 matches in his IPL career so far. He has scored 551 runs at an average of 24 and a strike rate of 158. Apart from this, Morris is also good at bowling. He has taken 80 wickets at an average of 24 so far. So, he deserved to be the most expensive player in IPL.
